I’m not gonna go on about how much I do not like digital releases. I guess band’s have their reasons for only doing digital releases. British Monsterworks’s new EP is a strange beast. I honestly didn’t know what to think of it to begin with. Was it a bird or a fish? But having lived with it a while I’ve come to (sort of) understand it. And like it. There is a charm to the mid-tempo of the songs that makes it hard not to like it. But it also makes it hard to compare them to anybody specific. Perhaps this is one of those releases that falls outside of my reference frames. Call it alternative metal. I have no idea how representative this release is for how Monsterworks sounds like but judging by the three tracks on this EP they sure seem very eclectic, mixing all kinds of metal genres and what not, and being very much all over the place. It might be sloppy to call them the Radiohead of metal but that is where I feel that they are roaming. I like it. Anders Ekdahl
