Battle Helm Rating

This is a part of the Noir Metal Quebecoise movement that has put Canadian black metal on the map. I reviewed an album back in late 2011 and then featured an interview in early 2012 but apart from that I don’t seem to have come upon NEIGE ET NOIRCEUR since then. This is ambient black metal. If you don’t know what that is you need not worry, because I hardly do. But this is much more soundscapes than guitar, bass and drums (even though they too exist on this album). Over two tracks that both clock in on the 22 minute mark you are taken on a cosmic journey. I would have loved to be able to listen to this while I watch the Aurora Borealis or the Australis Borealis. If there ever was such a thing as cosmic black metal this would win that price.
