I am not much of a book reader. So it came as no surprise that I didn’t know that this band’s name too is the title of a book from 1971. I have no idea what the book is all about but in the back of my head I now seem to remember having heard it referred to in one forum or another. But now we hare here to concentrate on this Finnish bands new album “Pawns And Kings”. Since it is released by one of my fave labels I have high hopes for this one. And I gotta say that it did not disappoint me. At the same time it did not blow me to Kingdom Come either. This is metal, make no mistake of that. It is just that I don’t really know what kind of metal it is. Should I call it modern, metalcore, melodic death metal or should I just settle for metal? I think I’ll opt for the latter and just call this metal. There is a charm to this that do appeal to me. It is heavy, it is groovy and at times it is also melodic. This one feels like one that needs to grow on me. Anders Ekdahl
