Old Wainds “Where The Snows Never Are Gone”

“Where The Snows Never Are Gone”
(Negative Existence)
“Where The Snows Never Are Gone” is a rerelease of a 1997 album by Russian Old Wainds. That is 14 long years. Much happens in 14 years but for Old Wainds time seem to stand still. Back then it was old bands like Bathory, Mayhem, Darkthrone, Burzum & Enslaved that were important to them. Nothing wrong with keeping true to your roots. This is 8 tracks of primitive black metal done the way only possible in the 90s. Paying homage to Mayhem’s “de Mysteriis dom Sathanas” album as much as Bathory’s early records with a twist of Burzum thrown in for good measure. Pitch-black and with very little nuances and very much true to their heroes. You can always question the reason a rerelease happens but in this case I’ll have to say that it seems motivated. This is too good to be forgotten. Listening to “Where…” brings back only good memories of the 90s. Anders Ekdahl
