Shiraz Lane – “For Crying Out Loud” (Frontiers Music)
If you’re a fan of pumping, kick ass rock n roll, then Finland’s Shiraz Lane will be no doubt up your street! Formed in 2011, this very young band have risen meteorically in the national music market, putting out four EP supporting music videos, playing the biggest summer festivals in Toronto Canada, Finland Fest in Tokyo Japan & Wacken Open Air in Germany. Winners of Hard Rock Rising 2014 and Wacken Metal Battle 2015 competitions, Shiraz Lane take the best of the rock n roll giants and put it all together in this one irresistible debut that is sure to win them the world over. Skid Row, Aerosmith, The Darkness and GnR to name but the sure ones, the songs on “For Crying Out Loud” do exactly that, coming across as either the missing or unreleased songs from these established greats. If the breathtaking compositions were jaw dropping enough, then the awesome vocals of Hannes Kett will set you on fire – at times more soulful than Sebastian Bach, elsewhere with higher head voice than Justin Hawkins – its hard to believe talent at such a young age, but clearly that’s what the excitements all about with Shiraz Lane. With the rest of the band no less lacking from the full blooded guitars of Jani Laine and Miki Kalske and the heavy ass pumping rhythm of Ana Willman drums & Joel Alex bass it’s simply impossible to resist the lure of molten songs like ‘Begging For Mercy’, ‘For Crying Out Loud’ and my personal fave of the fist banging ‘House Of Cards’ with its rock out shout outs. Totally kick ass! Make no mistake, Shiraz Lane are gonna be big and by all accounts, these lads are ready to take on the world!!
