It seems that by just being Norwegian or Swedish gives you an edge over other bands when it comes to attract interest from labels. Norwegian So Much For Nothing might not have the most sexy band name but if you look beyond that you’ll find a band that has something interesting to tell you. This isn’t the run-of-the-mill goth/black/whatever metal release you might come to expect. Instead I find this to be more along the lines of stuff like Atrox and the more avant-garde stuff that came out in the 90s when Norwegian metal felt new and interesting. Being a Swede I can sometime feel that there is a greater adventurous side to the Norwegian metal bands that I miss with the Swedish ones. But I guess that is more of a “the grass is greener on the other side” kind of feeling. That we Nordics are extremely good at metal there is no denying. So Much For Nothing shouldn’t be judged on their name but on their music. Give this a chance and I promise you that you’ll have a new favourite pretty soon. Anders Ekdahl
