Battle Helm Rating

I am not the greatest aficionado of noise. I can listen to it in small doses but it has to have something really special for me to sit through a full album of it. Thankfully UK’s VESSEL OF INIQUITY are not only noise but also black/death metal. But noisy it is. If you thought the B-side to Napalm Death’s “Scum” was noisy then this isn’t for you. If you don’t concentrate you might just think that this is the dryer gone mental. It just sounds like one massive pile up of stuff. Total chaos. Yet somehow, with a morbid fascination I sit here and actually enjoy this. Okay, it is not my first choice at a party but it is interesting to see how somebody’s vision has turned into what I am listening to. More interesting than good, yet not totally devoid of substance.
