ZURVAN “Gorge Of Blood”

“Gorge Of Blood”

Battle Helm Rating

This week we finish with a black metal band from Iran. For these people metal is a matter of life or death, literally. So to be able to hear an album like this is a humbling moment. Things that we take for granted are not so for everybody. Musically this is rather controlled black metal. Very much mid-tempo stuff. But ZURVAN manages to avoid falling in the trap of being samey. There is enough going on in the music to make this an interesting journey. What I like is that it feels like they are singing in their native tongue. It suits the music. There is an edge to the language that is very metal. A really nice new acquaintance. Anders Ekdahl
